What Does Lutheran Mean?
Just another denomination?
God became human like us, and his name was Jesus. Through his life on earth, his death on the cross and resurrection, Jesus broke through the wall of sin that separates us from our Creator. Through belief in Jesus, we receive God's grace and the greatest gift of all: salvation and eternal life. This belief is central to all Christians! Martin Luther, a Christian living in the 16th century, emphasized that God's grace is a total gift, and not something we can earn.
When you accept God's grace and Christian responsibility, you are led toward a true relationship with Christ, your bridge to Heaven. You are helped to grow into a more full and satisfying life; another wondrous gift.
Thus the name "River of Life Lutheran Church" means that we too, emphasize that we cannot earn our salvation, but that we receive it as a gift by grace through faith from God, fulfilled in a relationship with Jesus Christ. We "walk together" with the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (Synod literally means "walking together") as a church body, and with all Christians who share this faith.
